Chaplet of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus

Meditate on seven sheddings of the Precious Blood through thirty-three Our Fathers.

History & Origins

The seven-mystery Chaplet of the Precious Blood developed in early nineteenth-century Roman Catholic devotion. Francesco Albertini, an important figure in the Precious Blood confraternity, is associated with its establishment around 1809.

The chaplet is found in older editions of the Raccolta, a historic collection of Catholic prayers and indulgenced devotions. Its thirty-three Our Fathers honour the traditional number of years of Christ’s earthly life.

Traditional Promises & Spiritual Fruits

Historic Raccolta editions record indulgence grants connected with this devotion, including rescripts of Pius VII in 1809 and 1815. Those historical disciplinary conditions should not be presented as current indulgence regulations.

The chaplet encourages gratitude for the Redemption, contrition, and devotion to Christ’s saving Blood.

Intercessions

A particularly fitting devotion for conversion, reconciliation, the suffering, protection from sin, and the needs of the Church.
