The Stations of the Cross

according to St. Leonard of Port Maurice

The Franciscan Way of the Cross

Walk with Christ through the fourteen Stations in the older Franciscan form attributed to St. Leonard of Port Maurice. Pray his penitential meditations, the traditional prayers, and the three-line plea for mercy at each station.

Opening act of contrition

Most merciful Jesus, because You are infinitely good and merciful, I love You above all things and repent with all my heart of having offended You, my supreme Good. I offer You this holy journey in honour of the painful way You travelled for me, an unworthy sinner. May this devotion help me obtain Your mercy in this life and eternal glory in the next. Amen.

St. Leonard’s Meditation

Prayer

V. We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee.
R. Because by Thy holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world.
After each station, pray the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be.
